I saw they are standard on Rangers right now, and love this idea. Anyone install one on a Cat yet? if you did, where did you mount the switch?
You can sure munt them on a BCB and there is another brand with an electric remote. Though dont expect BCB to install one anytime soon. They are requiring a different assembly and the plastic concerns them.
so i am guessing you dont recommend them?
I see a multitude of things about it I dont like.1) Cutting unnecessary holes in boat2) Seal looks less than adequate for housing to drain port(boat). I see no O-rings or any compression type device other than a friction fit.3) Single o-ring for “plug” to housing with friction fit only.I will stick with the old fashioned plug that I tighten until my finger hurts and then double check that. Not really a problem as you have to bend down to strap the boat down and pull the transom saver anyway.
I had one put on my 99 PIII because here in cali you have to have the drain plug out before quagga inspection to any lake and pull the drain, when leaving the lake pull the plug and dry off the boat and live wells to get signed off. dont want to get on my knees on a wet ramp. LOL i got the first generation and it was on my boat for about 1 year without issues and one night before going fishing i went to check the assembly and the handle to open/close the plug snapped off very easily as i turned it. i called the company and they told me to call flowrite which makes all the parts. i called flowrite and they sent me a new revised handle for no charge. said the new ones are better and have been reinforced. i have no issues with it now and would recommend it. we have controls and valves on our boats from flowrite for the livewells so why not the drain plug? just my 2 cents.Last edited by socalpIII on February 4th, 2014, 5:59 pm, edited 1 time in total.

I drilled the hole and mounted it on the back right between the gas and hull vent, this way when i switch the lever to closed i could visually see the plug go in. if you want i can take a video tonight when i get home and post it, its very handy and they do recommend to put some dielectric grease on the o-ring to keep it from drying out but that was on the old plug that had 1 o-ring the new one has 2 – o rings on the plug.original lever that broke: new improved lever:
I like the idea, but too have had concerns about the cable stretching & it not pulling the plug in correctly, cable breaking, etc… But I guess you can always keep the old school one handy for emergencies. And seems as though they have good customer service based on socals story w/ the switch breaking. ^^13 PIV w/ 200 MercIG: WarriorRiverCustomRods
I just leave my plug in all season. No need to remove it. I realize some states you cant do that though.
the cable wont stretch its a thick and heavy cable like for the live well drains. i actually messed up and should have put the lever on the passenger side so as the cable coming from the plug connects to the lever from side labeled out. the way i did mine i had to curve the cable a bit. the whole thing works the same as for the livewell auto empty valve control. but cannot slip out of the plug. its really a nice deal. the beating sun is what caused the original lever to get brittle and snap, the new one is really solid feeling. my only complain is it the lever doesnt really lock in open or closed position, it just gets tight like the live well valve lever does.flow rite was great, the guy just asked me to email him a picture which i already had of the broken piece so they could document it and include my address, 2 weeks later i had a brand new lever and it took me 2 minutes to put on.Cali is a very strick state for quagga if you guys watch this series of videos, this is how they inspect our boats, trailers and ouboards for any standing water or drop of water. makes getting on the water a chore but what can you do the law is the law. LOL
