Hey guys, recently mounted my Garmin Livescope transducer on 2020 Eyra. I put in on my Ultrex and for those of you that haven’t tried it….it’s amazing !!! Now, I do have a question for anyone who has mounted and run this system.
We found the best image to be with the transducer mounted on the Left side of the Ultrex downtube/shaft. But that requires spinning the TM head around so the prop is on the Left of the boat. This also means that you have to re-route the HB transducer cable to the L side also to keep it off the
plastic guide ramp on the front of the Ultrex. ie….it’s just a bad condition for the TM head to be in.
So, anyone running the Livescope transducer on the R side of the down tube? Did you have to configure the program/unit to flip the image with the transducer reversed?
thanks in advance !!!
I’m running mine on the left and have always run the Ultrex with the prop out on the port side. I’m running a Lowrance 3 in 1, Hydrowave, and the Livescope cables all up the trolling motor shaft and secured on top of the shaft when it’s out of the water.
I haven’t got my fully installed but I believe the prop must be on the port side. This ensures the beam is shooting in front of the boat. If you install the transducer on the other side, the beam will be shooting toward the back of the boat. That is how mine arrived from the factory until I figured that out. So I moved it and hopefully hitting the water soon.
There is a way to rotate it and run it on the right side, it’s in the on line instructions.
Thanks guys for the replies. Yes, the transducer can mount on L or R side, and it’s completely adjustable without tools to look back, down or forward. However, the front vs rear orientation of the transducer changes when changing sides. Example, when mounted on the L side of the downtube, the main cable is at the rear of the transducer. When it’s spun around to the R side, the main cable is at the front of the transducer. so, in effect…the image on the screen is reversed. My real question is….how do I fix that?
I remember it talking about that in the installation instructions and it explained how to orient it.
