Which one should one choose? Is the sunbrella worth that much more?
Yes IMO. Ive pulled mine twice now with it on. It left no scratches. Two weeks ago I pulled almost three hours in a down pour the whole way ….. When I got where I was going the rain quit. I took the cover off and there was no water inside. Best cover Ive ever had.
In a past life I worked as a field rep and sales manager of a major textile distributor. Sunbrella and Aqualon were among many of the industrial and recreational fabrics we distributed/sold. Hands down Sunbrella is the one you want and is what is on my BassCat nothing else comes close. Go to the Sunbrella web site at Glenn Raven Mills and read the cleaning, care and water repellent re-treatment when needed and it will give you excellent service and long life span.
There are a few BCB owners who post semi regularly on this forum. Those also are as mentioned above, they build expensive yacht canvas accessories, another was in a competitive material company, still another builds his own custom covers. All we have encountered are surprised that we are offering Sunbrella Supreme, offering it at this low (seems high) price, and reaching out to extend that quality in our cover. There is simply nothing better made today than Sunbrella Supreme fabric. so why did we step out in such a high quality and expensive product? Lets jump off topic with the opportunity to go further. The mission at Bass Cat and Yar-Craft is to build it out of better products and since the recession took hold in 2008 we have been on that trek. Bass Boats today can range from $30,000 to $100,000 depending on how you dress them. You deserve those boats to be built from the bets products available today.Just like the Sunbrella Supreme your new non textured leather look vinyl in your seats is the best that is made. Syntec vinyls are also the very best product you can put in your seats. The same rings true in the AME-6441 or AME-6001 Vinyl Ester resins that we spec in those Premium models. Then we can discuss the 24 oz carpeting while most competitors are between 15 oz and 18 oz carpeting. Pretty much everything in a Bass Cat has that much thought an focus on quality. We can start with the steel and end with the polish, or cover in this case, it all is considered.Yes the Sunbrella Supreme cover is that good, now the decision is your as to whether its inside your range of cost. My first Cat had Sunbrella. My next one had Aqualon. Get the Sunbrella Supreme.
Ive had both. Get the Sunbrella. Also, the sunbrella is a strapless, low profile cover. It attaches with ratchet straps at the motor. The Aqualon I had installed with all the seats installed. It was a big tent! Some like this but not me. If the Aqualon could be had in a low profile cover, it would be a good compromise. Aqualon is a good material but Sunbrella is better.RH

In other words, the design is the same for the new covers, the choice is in the material. I had a low pro, strapless Aqualon. The only reason I had Aqualon on that rig is because I choose never to travel with a cover on, as the Aqualon has the potential to scratch the gel, whereas the superior Sunbrella Supreme should not.
Before BCB offered Sunbrella I never towed with a cover unless I used a plastic celophane underneath. With Sunbrella I tow regularly with the cover. Best cover on the market! Period!
