Below is a link to a page that list these. It is not the place Ill be buying. I can get these for about $115.00 each. Looking to replace the interstate 27s I have. they are at least 5 years old. Would there be a reason to not use one as a cranking battery? All my electronics and livewells are hooked up the the cranking battery so I do not want to run it down. The current Interstate 27 is a Deep Cycle used as a cranking battery with no issues. Based on the specs it sounds like a great deal. Menards can special order them so they should be new and if I time it right I might get an additional 11% off. Also these will be going into a 98 Sabre with a Merc 150EFI. The 27s are a pretty tight fit. Is there a big difference in footprint? I want to stay with a flooded battery. So anyone ever used them??Here are the specs:Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) @ 0°F, 725, ||Marine Cranking Amps (MCA) @ 32°F, 900, ||Reserve Capacity Minutes @ 25A, 205, ||Amp Hours (20 Hr Rate), 115, ||The weight is as at least 70 poundshttp://www.labatteries.com/shoponline/i … uct_id=601
CCAs are low, even with the engine you are using, will it work absolutely. Are there better choices, especially when it comes to getting you home at the end of the day. Yes. Looks to me like it would be a better TM battery given the 205 reserve capacity.
Exide still in bankruptcy too
The motor needs 630 MCA or 490 CCA. This battery far surpasses that and I like to night fish with the lighting (LED) wired to the starting battery along with the graphs, so I thought I might be better off. I could save $40.00 and get a Dual purpose or true Starting battery, but am afraid of running it down.Gary I did not know they were in Bankruptcy but should that keep me from buying? They only have a 12 month warranty, but from what Ive read it is a replacement not prorated warranty. Thanks guys for the input.
Most likely theyll recover but where I was working we took a 7 digit hit and wrote it off in 14.
I run three Exide batteries in my 94 Eyra one is the dual purpose the other two are the deep cycle, also ran them in my tin boat. My first set of batteries in my tracker after the first season seemed to not hold a charge like they did, I tested them and had one that wasnt pulling its weight. Pulled both batteries and headed to Menards, had one month left on the warranty, they asked what was wrong I told them they werent holding a charge like they did last year. No more questions asked they swapped them out and gave me two new ones, they didnt test the batteries or even blink an eye. When they warranty out the battery you also get another one year replacement warranty. This year will be my third season running the replacement warrantied batteries and theyre running strong. No complaints and for the money I will replace them with Exides again. I had just seen Menards here in nebraska anyway is running a sale the big ones are around $80.00 a pop and they have the 11% rebate running now. I was almost tempted to buy another round of them but engine repairs this last year took a toll on my pocket book. For what its worth I have been overall happy with the batteries and I have a few friends who also run them and none of them has had any issues.
Oh and regarding the dual purpose, I have been very pleased with its performance I run a HB 797 with side imaging on the steering console and an elite 7 on the front, two fake GoPros both plugged in to the boat and also always have my phone charging on the boat, I have the navionics app running most of the time and it quickly drains the battery especially out in the middle of nowhere Missouri, or South Dakota
Not sure what engine you are using, but if you are upgrading, take into consideration your electronics, if you are running big graphs such as 10 hfs or HB899 and another graph/gps simultaneously you could potentially have issues. One tale tale sign your battery is not big enough is when you crank engine do your graphs stay on or shut off? If they shut off means not enough juice in them to run everything!Your engine is pulling all the juice to start and away from graphs to stay on!, consider 1000 cca or better!
Thanks 94eyracat for the first hand opinion. Here in KY the largest is a 27series in store or online and they are about $80. I had to contact Menards main office and they made a SKU# and said it would show up in the system as a special order for the 31 series. Im going to open up the boat and measure to make sure they will fit. Is 20 RC min and about 20Ah worth the extra $40.00?? That is about the difference in the 27s and the 31s??
Wow theyre proud of their batteries in KY… I went back to menards today to get some supplies and looked at the batteries the 31 series exon deep cycle are on sale for 84.99 and an additional 11% off of that. No doubt theyre a poor mans battery but I fish easily 100 hours plus a year so I put them to the test and as I said wouldnt hesitate to buy them again.
