I apologize in advance for the long post but I have done very few wiring projects in the past.
I purchased the BP2000 to A10 conversion kit for my 02 Pantera Classic and it has all of the wiring ready to go and so far has been a straight forward install, but I did have a few comments to help others and a few questions for anyone who has done this before.
1. Wiring diagram suggests that A10 orange wire (accessory) goes to pink from BP2000, but there is no pink, so I connected orange to orange (accessory to accessory)
2. Wiring diagram suggests that A10 brown/white wire (bilge float) goes to black/white from BP2000 but there is no black/white, so I connected brown/white to brown/white
3. Wiring diagram for A10 has a PURPLE “master power switched” wire. I assume that goes to the RED “switched master power” from BP2000?
4. Wiring diagram for A10 shows RED “Hot 12v input from battery”. There are 2 separate RED wires on B2000 that say “+12v in”. Combine those 2 REDs from BP2000 or pick one?
5. There is a double black wire (combined gauge and unit black) coming out of the A10. The BP2000 has 2 black wires, do I combine both of those and connect to this or just pick one black wire from the BP2000 and cap off the other?
6. The gauge has a purple wire coming from it that says connect to key switch. Do you just cut and tie in to existing wires at the key or could I use an existing wire from the gauge (water temp) I’m pulling out of the dash for this unit? Water temp is on smartcraft gauge already so I don’t need this one.
7. There are 2 bilge output wires and both are brown. Now that I’ve already cut them, does it matter which is bilge 1 or bilge 2?
8. There is a white wire with a red stripe that comes out of the taped bundle (where gauge wires and others were combined) on the A10 before going out to old BP2000. This must have been combined with another wire in the taped area but has a connector and I don’t see where this white with red stripe should connect.
9. When I received the conversion kit, the wire clip was plugged in where the A10 pin/wire #1 was at the bottom right of the unit (when viewing the A10 from the back) but the diagram attached for the A10 would suggest that the A10 pin/wire #1 should be at the top right. The would make a difference when you reconnect the clip after securing the wiring. Any thoughts?
I attached the diagram with my initial suggested wiring matches (not final or tested). I’m so close but and not sure what to do next.
We suggest you contact Lance or Richard at BCB Service and get their help.
Will do! Thanks
