What does BCB use for attaching bunks? I had hoped to have replaced my trailer by now, but it just hasnt worked out. Still towing my boat down the road at an angle on the trailer it was on when that donkey ran out in front of us. As happens with all trailers one of the bunks finally came loose. Temporarily I have a spacer between the bunks and a strap holding it in place, but I need to replace them. Figured if I can round up all the necessary parts Ild tackle it tomorrow at the lake. Ive got a roll of bunk carpet and a box of rust proof staples. (nickle plated copper or something like that). I was wondering if it was worth the effort to chase down some stainless steel lag bolts. In the past I have always just used galvanized. It looks like Fastenal has them (stainless) for about 70˘ each. Not much more than galvanized at box store prices. Dont know of course if the local Fastenal store stocks them or not, but I figured I could check on my way over to the box store to buy some 2 x 4 for new bunks. Speaking of 2 bi. Is there any benefit to pressure treated vs regular (just looking for pieces with no big knots of course)? http://www.yumabassman.com–Bob La Londe Forums, Free Lures, Product Reviewswww.YumaBassMan.com CNC Molds N Stuffwww.CNCMOLDS.com
Oops. Looks like a third party is reselling those Fastenal stainless bolts for 70˘. Fastenal wants 97˘ each for them. Funny. http://www.yumabassman.com –Bob La Londe Forums, Free Lures, Product Reviewswww.YumaBassMan.com CNC Molds N Stuffwww.CNCMOLDS.com
I thought the bunks were 2 x 6 with the fronts cut to taper. I think the back of the bunk is also trimmed on a downward angle.
Bob, Call bass cat service and talk to them. They will give you the measurements to trim the 2×6 boards down to and will tell you what you need as far as hardware. Thats what I did a couple of years ago and it worked out great. Oh, Definately pressure treated!!!!!!!!Chris CoupelPaulina, La.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.
Just remember, not all bolts are created equal.

Sadly, they have done such a good job of marketing and filling that you have to go to a fastener dealer to get anything else it seems like. http://www.yumabassman.com –Bob La Londe Forums, Free Lures, Product Reviewswww.YumaBassMan.com CNC Molds N Stuffwww.CNCMOLDS.com
