Is anyone running an Evinrude 225 G2 on their Caracal? If so how would you rate your boats performance?
I know someone, will msg him. He is on here now and again.
I rode in one at a demo days it was impressive around 73-74 two guys boat was empty but you cant beat the warranty either.
Running a Caracal 2017 with 225G2, 4 batteries, 2 Talons, and compartments full of tackle -runs 72mph. Hole shot with Talons and 4 batteries is excellent.
very low oil consumption, nice to not have oil tank in boat, love the dts steering for low speed manuevering. Came out of a cougar FTD with 250 Pro-XS.
I do have the dual 26 gallon rear tanks with the underseat storage.
you said very low oil consumption and it is nice not to have an oil tank. I’m a bit confused
the 10yr warranty is crazy for an outboard especially if its unlimited hrs runtime

To clarify, it is nice to not have a tank in the boat that causes you to end up with oil spilled in the boat when you fill it. Oil consumption on the G2 is considerately less than my last engine which was a Mercury.

Running the G2 on my Lynx. Just finished up 6 straight days fishing in Minnesota and couldn’t be more pleased with the engine, or the boat. Almost 50 hours on it now since new this spring. Awesome power, good fuel economy, power steering is the bomb, ability to switch from hand throttle to hot foot, ease of adding oil as others have mentioned.
Wouldn’t hesitate to select a G2.
Thanks guys. G2 it is and we have a Caracal on the way.
Warranty is 10 years limited to 1000 hours.
that is a crazy warranty for an outboard
I have a G2 on my 2018 Caracal. With (2) 8′ blades and (2) 26 gal. tanks. I’m still playing with the vent holes in the prop b/c I don’t like the hole shot. Especially with the live wells full. Top end is low to mid 70’s like others have said. I have always owned Mercs and I have never been a fan of Evinrudes, but it was on the boat that I could not pass up and I like the matching colors. With a 10 yr warranty I figured it was worth a shot. I’ve got about 30 hrs on it so far and I haven’t had any issues. Everyone talks about how strong these motors are. I came out of 2012 Pantera Classic with a 200 Optimax and that was the most responsive boat I have ever driven. So its hard for me to compare. I would like to know what prop you other guys with a G2 are running and how you have your vent holes set. If anyone has a prop to pad measurement, that would be nice too.
