I was told by a friend that was at classic that when he was talking with a representative of the company that owns ranger etc. That they are in the middle of adding sterling boats to there line and said they plan on trying to get bass cat and other brands.has anyone heard anything because I luv the fact its family owned and its about the quality.
Platinum Equity has as much chances of buying BCB as I do….Sterling, who knows but I wouldnt doubt buy outs these days but Im pretty sure Jan,Ron and Rick would rather Bull doz the place Vs. sell out to a Equity Firm, maybe the $$$$ is less important to some folks…..You can only spend so many millions in one life time….Brannon
I think Rick had a posting last year about telling potential suitors/buyers to keep adding zeros to whatever price they propose, but that would be a family decision for them above everything else.My thoughts……..after 40 yrs in the business as a single, original family entity, I just dont see it happening. Someone probably drank some soured milk (not kool aid) and had notion “Im miserable, so lets see what I can do to others” day. Too bad for that fella96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
I wonder if theyre interested in a basket factory ?Id fix em right up !
As I see it there are only two issues here,1. “If” that rumor is true then its a family decision, The Pierce Family, not ours.2. Regardless of what anybody thinks, Money talks Boys!!Chuck
Employees of the competition started those rumors back in the summer. This was after they restarted and after the boat companies were bought at auction, and the acquisition of Triton from Brunswick. Rick did do a long article on it at that time and the rumor was hurting Bass Cats business, which was a major concern. That was a major reason for Ricks comment. If we can find that post we will ask him if we can bring that back up to the top. You can find it in a search for Platinum Equity. At that time he was plain in that no negotiations whatsoever had occurred with Platinum Equity and that is was all rumor. We cant comment on rumors as outside of Ron, Jan Rick and Dee would know if the opportunity to sell were there or anything were happening. The perfect dream would be for all of those with Bass Cats to have it, hold it maybe even an EOC or ESOP. Oh well, we just woke up!Last edited by Bass Cat Boats on March 19th, 2011, 5:14 am, edited 1 time in total.
EOC or ESOP?Im guessing EOC = employee owned company. No guess on ESOP.
