Humminbird 360 AS GPS puck

New Caracal owner here. Humminbird mega 360 wasn’t in stock when I got my boat will be here in few weeks. Where has everyone else mounted there Humminbird GPS compass puck? My boat has ultrex and has minnkota puck on the port side bow in front of cupholder on the teardrop shape grip tape already …..Thanks

We usually mount them outside the rear corner of the bracket on the bowset.

Won’t the Ultrex heading puck work for heading on the Humminbird units?

Got mine on the stern out of the way.

As long as it is aligned with the boat it doesn’t matter where you place it as long as it is clear of other electronics. It is a compass and needs to be clear of magnets and any emf.

Does the 360 Mega come with a GPS or heading sensor puck?  Does it require a heading sensor to function properly?

I am in the process of pulling all the Lowrance stuff off my boat and replacing it with Humminbird. I was going to put a GPS Heading Sensor at the rear of the boat foraeking things from the console.

The mega 360 is only an added transducer. It doesn’t come with anything extra.  A heading sensor is always good and beneficial to your units.  However you need to put it on the bow.  If you have the I-pilot link ability you can use the Ultrex sensor as your heading sensor. You can link to it or so I understand.  I have only an I-pilot Ultrex  so I have a Hummingbird Heading Sensor on the bow as well as the Ultrex heading sensor.
