Im trying to run my transducer from my 08 cougar/225 opti and seem to be getting hung up in the throttle cables. Is there a way to pop off the throttle faceplateto access the bolts behind so i can remove the throttle handle? Is there another way to get access to the cables behind?Im trying to figure out how to post a picture of the throttle so you guys can see what Im talking aboutThanks for the help

I been doing alot of wiring here lately doing some customizing my p2 for my needs. I removed the rear vent and the shifter box. By removing the shifter box which is held in place with 4 screws with a little manuevring and a flashlight you can see all the way back. I actually got my transducer cable hung in the turn and took a length of pvc pipe and unhanged it. Anytime Im running wiring or cables I just lay the shifter box off to the side and use my pipe and fish tape pulling it through the pipe first. Smooth pull from back to front. This is Aruss1984s shift lever box. As you can see, he does not have the visible four screws for easy removal like some of us have.

Ran into this before and they are a bit of a pain. Its quite the combination and a little search shows a guy taking one off a 3000 series shifter but will give you the basics of how to do it. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nb3vVRT3jJ4

the best option is through the cowl vent, and the fiberglass rods shown here before help. Odds are it is trapped or wedged in the corner where the cables round the deck in the right rear. That area pins things if not careful on routing outwards.

BCB : I seem to be making it around the vent fine because I have the transducer cable tied and being pulled from the console as I feed the rest through near the vent. I can hear ducer connection near the shift handle when I juggle it. Ive been ae to twist the face plate of the shift plate cover by depressing to pressure points and I can see 4 her nuts behind. Is there any way to move the plate further?

Are you sure you need to remove your shifter? You may very well need to but Ive ran new transducer cables in two different model BCBs and never had an issue with the shifter. Im not saying this will work in your situation but what has worked for me in the past was to feed a long piece of electrical wire used for wiring a home – think it is called coax – from the rear vent to dash/ shifter area and then pull the new transducer cable through attached to the end of the electric wire.Jason Ferbrache – Edmond, OK 1995 Basscat Eyra

You can usually go in through the rod box and not have to pull the throttle / shifter. Lots more room to work from going in that direction. Sometimes you can even stick your head in there with a flashlight to see what youre hanging up on…
