Guys I posted on other threads how my ELITE 7s were slow to respond and refresh when I zoomed in or out of the Navionic Map. To sum it up, When I zoomed in it could take over 55 seconds for the map to repopulate. Causes some issues going 50mph. Also systems would shut down unexpectedly. I was ready to send them back. Lowrance had me doing resets and could not say much more than “it is a known issue, sorry. Would you want to upgrade to a HDS 7?” I sure as hell was not going to upgrade to another Lowrance if the Brand new ones I purchased would not function properly!Lowrance put an update 4.0 at the end of June. My units are working 100% better!!No unexpected shutdowns, map refreshes within 3 seconds. Im one happy camper now!If you are experiencing issues with your Lowrance Elite 7 give this update a try!!
Probably our largest frustration. Updates, glitches and software enhancements are a continual frustration on both major electronics brands for us. KISS is gone today in the electronics world and we dont have Apple or Microsoft volumes to bring high volume quality into depth finders. It takes minutes to tune one, minutes to find a software link, minutes of time spent dialing and searching which take valuable leisure time from consumers. And a side kick electronics guru to finally get it doing what you intend, only to go through it all the next trip.
Its not just boat electronics; it goes everywhere there is a computer; the urge to make it more complicated and add buttons “because you can”. I am a college-trained engineer and I cant figure how to tune my wifes radio on here new Tahoe; it takes no less than four button presses to store a presetjwt
I wonder if it would help my Elite 5. Even though I havent had any issues with it yet.13 PIV w/ 200 MercIG: WarriorRiverCustomRods

Ive learned over the years, the hard way, dont be seduced my latest updates. When I had my Lowrance units on my SabreFTD I did not update for that reason. One, they worked and two I didnt want to go through hardships similar to post. I did that in the past and it was a pain. Glad you found a solution. Now on to the next challenge. Finding them and catching them. Tight Lines!Fly

I did not see that update. I am headed to the garage to do now. I am having THE SAME issues with my E7.THANKSRH
I have the very same issues with mine… Slow to change on zooming in and out, and suddenly shuts down for No apparent reason. Also, fished Randalman for the second time this past Friday, and GPS did not show the lake. It did the same thing the first time I fished it and after coming home, I thought… Well maybe if I switch off the Navionics and back to Lowrance, it would show the lake, Nope. Not sure whats up with that??
Preacherboy, Navionics does not show Randleman Lake on its website “Webapp” map either. I would assume they do not have it mapped. Great looking lake from the looks of it on the net.
