Mercury New power boost programming

How many of you will be buying the power boost program Merc just announced a few days ago.  $250 to program 200 plus fourstrokes to provide more power for hole shot.  It phases out at higher RPM so doesn’t help with top end.  I believe new motors will already be programed with the boost built in.

I think it’s a no brainer for $250, I’ll do it as soon as possible. In boat money, that’s a blink of the eye!

Only those engines closest to Mercury have this tune at this time. We spoke to a former Mercury Marine engineer that ran one in demo drives last week and he said it was impressive. We will hold opinion until more are out there.

It was just released this week, looks like it benefits the 175 the most.

Correct new ‘26 engines manufactured in Q2 come from the factory with the new tune and it’s more of a mid range increase from what the graph shows in the link above.

Yeah, have a friend with Merc who has filled a few of us in on program though I was under the impression it was already available when I posted this question.  A few of us “volunteered” to provide real life data and feedback in exchange for tuning our Pro XS four strokes.  Merc didn’t take us up on our offer…..   🙂    I see in the announcement that the target RPM range is mid-range vs hole shot which didn’t jive with the info I got.  I might do it either way.  Will be interesting to see reports from those who get motors tuned in the near future.

It was released last week and then pulled back. Seems they’ve got a glitch on engine hours being altered.

Yes it’s true.  Their press release says as much as do Merc reps.  I was originally told it just helped with hole shot but press release says it helps with midrange as well.  Just doesn’t help top end.

Their graph is a bit vague as it doesn’t show numbers for the mph or time, but depending on what rpms you’re achieving on holeshot a gain in the midrange of powerband could improve it.
