No Power – Advice/Help

Suddenly, I have no power to anything from the starter battery on my 2010 Sabre. I have switched batteries and am certain the battery is good. I have also replaced the circuit breaker and tested to confirm I have power coming out of it.

The boat has a “mater panel” next to the driver’s seat (see picture) but it is riveted in place.

Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated. Thanks much.

I figure already did this, but make sure there are no loose wires that you missed changing out the battery.  Also when you turn the switch on the red indicator should come on. If it does you have power to the switch.

The black things should just be covers for the screws under them.  You can use a flat screw driver to pop the covers off if you want to pull the whole thing out.

Instead you may want to use a flat screw driver to press down the tabs on the top and bottom of the switch to pull it out.   When you pull the switch do it slow to make sure you do not pull any of the wires loose. There should be 3 wires on the switch. You should have a red coming from the battery, black for ground that lets the red light indicator work, and either an orange or red wire going to the control panel for the pumps and nav lights.

You might be able to reach to where the switch is and feel the back of it to see if any wires are loose before you go thru the trouble of pulling the switch out.

Follow the Red wire from your starting battery all the way to a “terminal strip” mounted on the transom.  Is there a square device in this line near the battery terminal?  If so, it could be a “re-settable” fuse. Look for a small tab on it to push in to reset the fuse.  If not then take a good look at the terminal strip and inspect for rust, dirty contacts or loose connection in the wires etc.  There should be a jumper from the power wire to the next terminal next to it.  Make sure this jumper is in place and making good connection.  Pull on all the wires to make sure they are making good contact.  There is a good chance you will find your problem in this area. Those are not rivets, remove the black plastic caps and there are probably #2 square drive screws to remove the panel.

I ran out of things to try and have taken the boat into an authorized Bass Cat repair shop. When I get it back I will update this thread as to what the problem was and how it was fixed to benefit others with a similar problem in the future.
