I’ve been looking at some of the Bass Cat build photos on Facebook. On the Pantera Classic how hard is it to change out the pump on the back of the live well? The pictures make it look like the fuel tank is in the way, but I haven’t looked at that in person. Is there more room in reality than there appears to be or a trick to it?
The fuel tank has a wedge in the rear wall to allow some access.
Yes – I have been looking at this as well. Here is a picture I have
I am not sure how to change the aerator pump and I am trying to understand how to access the recirculation pump as well – I think bass cat needs to do a drawing showing how this is all working and also place the pumps where we can access them. That would be good for future models of the Classic. In addition, I am looking at trying to add a second bilge pump (important for where I fish) – that should be an option especially since there is a spot need the chrome exits at the transom for another chrome fitting.
I started a drawing of the system but just can’t figure out when you pull the red valve what happens I think it takes water from livewell instead of lake water – but then where is the recirculation pump in the system and how does that work and tie into the aerator discharge? Finally – how does the aerator bar work and what is that connected to? Does the aerator only work when you recirculate?
I looked hard for the recirculation pump – does the aerator pump shown in my picture have the recirculation pump right above it – I will try to crawl in there – but difficult since I have power pole pumps now. My concern is that even though dealer fixed the pinhole leak in drain plug – I still have a small leak when using the livewell. It probably is on a fitting past the aerator or on the recirculation pump so I am trying to understand system before I do another lake test. Just want the boat not to fill up with water when I use it and need your help so you can help my dealer – thanks. P.S. Been to dealer twice – I want it fixed right this time even if they need to send it back to you. Please help – thanks.
The livewell should not fill up if the plug is in and the aerator is not on. There could be some reverse flow through the overflow, though it is minimal.
There is only in and recirc, which serves as the pump out also.
Testing at lake again tomorrow – so far all my tests show livewell functions fine on trailer and no leaks. The leak maybe from intake to aerator I suspect – hopefully an easy fix.
Thanks for your comments – I will delete picture I made so as not to confuse anyone – I understand what should change in the image now.
i have a video of how to operate the classic live wells
ive used mine constantly for 3yrs haven’t had to change mine
Do you know where the recirculator pump is? I see the aerator pump – although I can’t reach it since I am a larger build. I am trying to get a camera there to watch for leaks in the housing or tubing from the lake to the aerator – I suspect it maybe cracked there since on trailer with tests I don’t see a leak.
It’s on the back of the livewell all you have to do to replace it is remove your batteries remove 4 screws holding the tank in place and slide it back to gain access or you can pull it completely
I found the aerator there and can hear the recirculator pump but unfortunately can’t see it to film a video – what I am trying to do is find the leak in my boat.
If anyone reads this – the aerator pump is close to the transom and the recirculator pump is the only one near the livewell and sort of accessible through the opening under the gas tank or you can slide gas tank to replace it. More important is the aerator and the bilge are both accessible easily! Sorry Bass Cat for not understanding this – again a schematic would be very helpful in the manual. Thanks Danieltx11
