Power Pole or Talon ?

Im getting close to purchasing shallow water anchors and wanted to get a few opinions. Thx

Many different opinions on this one. I like Power Poles but, I have never had Talons so I cant compare. Power Poles are strong and I like being able to lower them without getting out of my seat to idle under low bridges. Several low bridges where I fish mostly.

I own Power Poles and will only own Power poles. I also have a friend who owns a boat with Talons and I use his boat when Im in between boats. Both Talons and Power Poles do exactly what theyre designed to do. Though as i said I will only own Power Poles due to looks, much quieter, easier use when needing to get under low spots including into the garage. About the only advantage a Talon has over Power Pole is they are easier to install since the motor is integrated.

I am the of the opposite opinion lol. I had pp on my champ and now two talons on my puma. The 10 footers actually hold in 9.5 ft of water in a wind. I have the 2nd generation and they are plenty quiet enough. Sorta a truck thread here lol.

Talons are almost twice the weight of the PP, and all the weight is behind the transom. That is a big deal when you are trying to improve your holeshot.

Agree with speck on the Talons. I too have the new models and they make hardly any noise until they lock in the up positions. I have the 10 ft models on my Cougar. Ive fished with folks who own PP in fact Marshalled for the Elites and some like Talons and some like PP. it is an open debate.

As said earlier, both units perform as advertised. The second generation (center mounted motor) is the 10 and 12 and is a quieter motor than the first generation. The 10 ones are apx the same height as the 8 powerpoles and the older 8 Talons. This year, MinnKota is introducing a 3 stage Talon in the 8 (second generation). It will only be 41″ — 16″ shorter than the previous 8 footer. I sell both the Powerpoles and the Talons. Yes, the old Ford Chevy debate. The reason I stick with Talon is because I do not want the possibility of hydraulic fluid leakage, nor do I want to take up space with pumps. It is personal choice as one likely is as good as the other.
