With the fury I would probably think the 24 would be the one to try first since you have the 2.5 L. If it were the 3.0 L I would have said 25 Fury. If you get a chance to try a Trophy I would try a 25.
Check with your local dealer and see who they use. We have several suggestions. like Port City Prop shop in the Fort Smith area. Just a general prop shop and nothing fancy. Some would suggest Croxton, though he is somewhat more expensive. Precision Propeller was a choice once, and then there was Dyna Prop in MO. Gibbs in Havasu City, AZ and Phils in California. Take your pick!
To the smart people with all the information at there, please explain the difference in performance in a 4 blade and a 3 blade prop. Can you say that a 3 blade 25P trophy would be close to a 24P 4 blade Trophy? I had a 25p Tempest 3 blade on my 05 Classic but could not turn but 5150 rpm at about 5000 feet elev. I got a 4 blade Trophy 24P now but havent had a chance to run do to snow and ice on the water. Will this prop help me out with rpms and top end or hole shot? I have a 200 efi 2005 on it. Also how do I find the gear slip? Thank you for your help.
I dont think a fury will fit on there. You have the small hub right?Dan Yonan. ———————————————————
Hey WV BassCat, You might better try the 24 if going to a fury, my friend has that same boat and motor running a tuned 25 tempest. He tried my 25 fury and the hole shot was very slow.
No it is a large hub, and if you go to a Fury go with a 24. It may be close though a 24 is similar to a 25″ in other versions.
I would agree with everyone on the 24″ Fury. I havent gotten my hands on one yet, but hope to try one sooner or later. I think the Fury is about the only prop out there I havent tried. But, all of those that have run the Fury say to drop an inch in pitch when you go to it. Very stiff props. Chris Coupel Paulina, La.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.
Im not sure if it is out yet, but what motor would you put the 27pitch fury on ??
I run an 09 Puma FTD with 09 Mercury 250 Pro XS and turn a 26 Fury to 6000 RPM with more left. I would like to try a 27 Fury, as I am absolutely confident my engine will push the 27 pitch prop close to 6000 on the top. I am, however, concerned that hole shot may suffer. I am going to ask Ivan what he thinks. I am pushing 78.6 mph at 6000 RPM. I could turn more RPM, but I do not want to exceed the maximum recommended RPM. I just know that I can get another 1.4 miles per hour from the boat to hit 80 mph, my goal. I have found through my years of fishing that if you snag a bass at 80 miles per hour, it takes the fight right out of them. Corky
Thanks everyone for the replys…Yes it is the large hub… Im going to call round while in TN to try to find a 24p fury I would like to try it out… I know I couldnt find it in WV (not many shops here)…Thanks again Steve
70 or 80 takes the bite out , Corky!!!. I have “NO” probs with rpms 6000 to 6200, running a 26 tempest. I also think I can push a 27 fury, just want someone to tell me theyve done it or are going to try it. Ill probably be the goat on this one !
Heck EARP64, we may be goats together on this one. I am going to ask Ivan what he thinks and probably order one next week. I wish I could borrow one to try, but they just recently started making the 27 Fury and I dont know anyone with one. Corky.
Simply thrust it into reverse from idle and it should eject the grass.
DID YOU THRUST BACK IN REVERSE FIRST BEFORE TAKING OFF, IF NOT TRY THIS NEXT TIME. IF YOU SEE GRASS IN THE PROP AREA THEN YOU NEED TO TAKE OFF THE PROP AND CLEAN IT THEN LOOK AT THE RUBBER HUB AND SEE IF THE GROOVES IS STILL IN PLACE OR STRIPED.
thanks for the info on the prop. thats what i was told here but just wanted to confirm it. thanks again
