Thinking about trading my 2017 Cougar FTD for a 2021. Two things I want to throw out to you guys.
The Ghost trolling motor is brushless and should eliminate interference. 360 is great for structure anglers and Garmin Live Scope is great for target anglers.
You can run the Fury 4 blade, however we prefer just dropping a pitch. We find your suffering on performance using a 4 blade and reducing pitch does the same more efficiently in most cases.
Can a Humminbird 360 be easily mounted on a Ghost Trolling motor or are there some special parts needed?
Thank you Bass Cat. PPBASS, I haven’t done a lot of research on that yet but I have seen custom mounts sold by a couple of outlets.
360 Mount to Ghost: I just completed the Ghost and Mega 360 install. I had the 360 mounted to a Ultrex so I bought a mount from Boatlogix to mount it to the Ghost {299.99} works great, very well built mount and it comes with the additional bracket that secures it to the lower shaft, no interference. After my install I found out you can use a Fortrex mount to mount to a Ghost. Not sure of the cost for the Fortrex mount. Hope that helps.
Since you guys are very performance oriented, what are your thoughts on 10′ Power Pole Blades vs 8′? I have 10′ on my boat now never ran the 8′. Any big difference in hole shot, boat performance?
Surfrat57, I sold my 17 puma and got a 2021 eyra, I would think the 25/4 fury would do alright on the new v8 but a 24 pitch may be better. I just got a 26 bravo xs for mine, and its running 75.2 @5990 the hole shot improved over my 24/3 fury. For some reason extremely loaded it still doesnt hole shot the best (this may be more of the eyra hull as its not known for as good of a hole shot at the others) I will probably send it for a bit of work and get some cup added. I did try a 25p bravo xs and I was on the limiter at 70. Lots of guys are staying away from the fury 4’s as they are known for slinging blades.. I’ve owned 4 and never lost an ear.. I also think your either a 4 blade guy or your not and I dont have to have all that top speed. The new v8 is impressive, Im doing my first oil change at 20 hours tomorrow. It was about $100 in parts. So long DFI oil… lol No telling what I was spending a year on that hundreds of dollars I’m sure.
As for the graph options I had lowrance and their menus are pretty complex. I went with all garmin stuff and its pretty simple in operation. Might be worth a look. I really enjoy my live scope. I would match your graphs and trolling motor to whatever brand you end up going with.
Louie, Put some lithium’s in your Eyra and it takes care of the hole shot. I have a 17 with the 2 stroke and recently put three lithium’s in for my trolling motor. It made a big difference in my hole shot. It’s only money:) What’s another $1300!
Thank you guys, my new order is in.
