I seriously think the only thing out of all the Basscats i have owned (4), the main thing i can recommend is you all would provide a better way for routing transducer cables. Ive run many wires in many boats, ran wires in many houses working for my dad growing up as an “electrical helper”. To run new transducer wiring in every BC i have owned has been nothing short of a royal pain in the rear. This 2016 FTD is by far the worst. It would take nothing but a single 1 1/4 inch piece of PVC pipe dedicated solely for trandsucer wiring (1 1/4 is for the SS3d transducer wiring y split cable with 2 transducer cannon plugs) from the rear vent to the the throttle plate assembly, approx 6 feet or pipe dedicated just for this purpose. There is plenty of room for this during the build process and would be a DIYs dream to run new electronics in just a matter of minutes. The amount of wiring and bundles that are ran in that small 5 inch cross section from the gunnel to where the top cap are molded makes it dang near impossible to just simply fish a new cable through there, especially the 3d lowrance cable with the two transducers and y split block. A single piece of PVC would eliminate this hassle and make life simple. 6 hours, 4 different fish tapes, and a torn hydraulic plate sending unit wire later to finally get just a normal (non 3d cable) cable ran back to the console is quite asinine. Working on aircraft for a living i truly know the engineers who builds things never keep in mind the people who have to work on them, but this really is a simple fix that will help others 1,5,10 years down the road. Put a PVC pipe in there where running and replacing the one thing most people will replace over the course of ownership seems like a simple fix.If you cant run a pipe up the gunnel then route it up through the bilge to come out under the floor and at the throttle using 15/20/30 degree bends in a PVC pipe and just make this a much simpler process. I know you guys do all this after the cap i already installed and its easy at the factory, but if the transducer isnt the last cable routed then its buried under everything else and fishing it out and in using the same path just simply does not work well.
Helicopter engineers should be dragged thru a cactus farm for some of the component placement the come up with!!!An extra pvc tube for running optional equipment wiring would be brilliant!
I totally agree a great ideal!!. Ive been using a piece of pvc as a guide the last couple of time Ive run wire and cables. I actually discovered this after getting a cable hung in the bend at the rear of the boat. My biggest fear when running new cables or even wire is binding and breaking the strands of another wire or more so a new transducer cable. Again I will say I agree with your reccomendation.. a simple and inexpensive ideal that would save a ton of headache for the next person2013 PANTERA 2MERCURY 200 PRO XSMINNKOTA 80LB FORTREX25 fury
No doubt! Had to even remove the gear shifter box while assisting a friend pull transducer wire. We had the same thoughts.
Its not as easy as you indicate. The challenge is the manner a Bass Cat is manufactured and the attachment is difficult. Fiberglass doesnt attach solidly to many plastics which would endure the rigid mount. Then the added cost to add that component is more than one would think with everything we have in the gunnels. Other companies dont encapsulate their foam and thus they have more freedom.

I just ran HB cables in my Sabre. after I figured out what to do, I had it done in 30 minutes.
The 3D cables have been the worst because of the 2 large ends. I just ran new wiring for the graphs back to the battery and ran an extra set of wires from the battery to the console just in case! It does help a lot if you take the shifter assembly out.
I always leave a fish tape in there , just so its easy the next time . — .090 weedeater string works great .
