Doing it like this, you can get the fit to be “just right” if you want it to have zero slop but not be impossible to turn the post to tighten/loosen it.

After replacing the seat post bushings on my P II, I now have to force the posts into the bushings and use a pipe wrench to twist the post to get them out. I realize they should be snug ( if not, why change them, right?) but is it normal for new bushings to be THIS tight? Mine are the white bushings and installation went fine…they are not distorted or malformed. Any comments or similar experiences?
You should check the fit on the bushings before you install them to insure they are not already too tight.
It sounds to us like you may have slowly forced them in the post. This is often a small hammer nad block install.
We prefer to install them with a 2 x 4 and a large hammer, almost a small sledge. This speed impacts the bushing into the hole, and they do not tend to distort.
In this case, you may see about running a bit in the bushing to loosen it back up.
Hope this helps you on the bushing issue, we know it is after the fact!

Thanks,BC…..I did check the fit before I drove them into the base and I used a rubber faced mallet to drive them in. Will try to loosen up a tad with a drill bit. I will use your suggested method to install in the future!!!!
Thanks for providing a great website and customer service…..no one else comes close !!!!!!!!!!!!
When you drill them out a little put a small amount of vaseline on the seatpost, as it will help prevent corrosion, and sticking ! D.
