Seeking information on the new 4 Stroke 200HP ProXS

I currently have a 2017 Pantera 2 with a 200HP Optimax ProXS.  I normally am seeing between 4-5+ MPG the way I operate my boat on an average trip.
I have an opportunity to re-power to the new V8 200 HP ProXS 4-stroke Mercury.  I would like to hear from others with this engine to give me your opinions on this engine including the MPG that I might be seeing if I switch.

We honestly would price a new Pantera II SP Series also and check the price difference between repowering and a new rig. The cost of an engine is most likely close to that number, and you reboot with a totally new rig and equipment.

Yeah I am aware of that.  Several factors to consider though;  first I would need to sell mine which I haven’t even thought about, and then the prospect of being “boatless” again doesn’t thrill me right in the middle of BCB production being swamped in the spring time. (LOL)
You are right though. It is something to consider.

The new production facilities are in operation and the backlog is not significantly long at this time. We built Bass Cat at full steam, and now we have cranked up operation on Yar-Craft in their own facility.

I had a 2015 P2 with the 200 Pro XS. My 2019 Classic has the Merc V8 200 4S.  Gas mileage is pretty well the same as verified on my Vessel View.  I do like the quietness and torque of the new 200. Also nice to have more room in the rigging area due to the loss of the oil tank. If resale down the road is a concern for you, a 4S will be an easier sale, as already there are a lot of boats with the older Optis sitting because many now want a 4S.

Thanks for the info catdude.  My thoughts exactly where the longer I keep the 2 stroke, the less desirable it will make my whole rig in the future.
My ProXS has enough warranty and value that I think someone will want to purchase it with only 100 hours on it. It may take a while but I think between the dealer and I we can sell it to get some of my $$ back.
If I had someone beating my door down with cash in hand to purchase mine it might be a different story.

Thanks for the info Mark.  I don’t run WOT everywhere I go so if I can see MPG like that I will be very satisfied.  P2 and Classic should be very similar results I would think.  What prop are you running on your Classic and what are your high RPM’s.

What’s your set up on your classic. Poles? Ultrex

I run a 24 Fury 3 on my Classic. 24 volt Ultrex, one Talon on the port side. Jackplate about flush. Very similar results to Mark.  Holeshot is great just like the P2 that I had. Just a tad over 72 mph, 5750 rpm’s.  Has a little bit more.  May try a 23 Fury next year to get the rpm’s up higher.

do  you have a lot of plastics?the center rod locker has all of my plastics with my weights in the other rod locker
