setup on 97 jag with repower 225 opti

I am currently repowering a 97 jag with a 06 225 opti. 6 inch jack plate, any ideas on best prop to run? I currently have a 26 Trophy and a 27 M1 Yamaha to play with. Suggested heights to start on my props? No experience with this hull.Thanks

I have a 98 Jag with an OPTI 225. I have been running a 26 trophy but it suffered a little on the hole shot especially with water in the wells and a partner. My top speed was a little over 71 GPS. Im currently running a 25 fury and it jumps out of the hole. I cant tell you what the top speed is cause my jackplate needs some work but it feels strong and Ive seen 67-68 without being able to adjust the plate. Bottom line Im very happy with the fury.

Thanks, were you running the trophy around 2.5-3 inches low?

I really dont know about the distance….Ill guess at 3 to 3.5 inches. When I needed to I would make some small adjustments on the jackplate (hydraulic) so I never measured it. I knew where it ran well on my jackplate gauge. Sorry I couldnt help more. The Trophy is a good prop but when you can get the fury (25p) youll be pleased.

I have a 99 Jag with a 225 Opti and I have the factory build sheet. It came with a 23 Tempest Plus and I am guessing when I bought it the originalprop was still on it. It was a little damaged from someone hitting what looked like a cable from the marks. I had it repaired and put it back on.I couldnt ask for a better setup, great out of the hole and over 70 top end. It runs right at the rev limiter but never goes over. I am setting 3 inchesbelow.Johnny

I have a 99 Jag. I dont think the 26 or the 27 pitch props will work, I run a 25 Trophy and a 25 Fury. Both are good props for this boat. If the holeshot is slow, go to a 24. The setup is 3″ to 3.5″ below pad. The Fury needs to run lower than the Trophy. Remove all the vent plugs in the Fury and on the Trophy I remove 2 vent plugs and plug the other 2 completely off with blanks. Hope this helps. Good luck

I also run a Tempest 25p at -3″ prop to pad! I had Steves Prop Shop B&B the prop last month. Great performance!I have a Fury25p also and know that it seems to be the prop of popular choice!im going to have it B&Bd also and then Ill know which is best!
