Suzuki Motors and dealers

Does Basscat have any dealers that are Suzuki dealers near Springfield MO? I am thinking about going either that route or to a G2 on my next boat, if and when I buy one. I would also like to hear from current owners and their experiences with these motors. While I know that Merc is the current motor of choice for many, I tend to wonder about the longevity side of their lifespan. When you look at hours on many off shore rigs, there are many that have over 3,000 or more hours on them. I have had 3 optimax motors (1-200, 2-250s) and to be honest I do not know if they would last that long. with out having a very expensive issue (IE compressor failure, motor mounts, lower unit failures.) BTW, I have experienced all 3 of those failures on the first 2 mercs I had, nothing yet on the one I own. The other factor that is driving me that way is the cost of extended warranty. On a G2 you are looking at a 10 year warranty out of the box, Suzuki has a 6 year warranty, I think. Mercs had 3 on the optimax and then you bought extra years, which can add up. Any and all thoughts are appreciated.

I was actually over there today.  Looked at that new Cougar he has, it is definitely bright.

I’ve seen pictures of it but have not seen it in person.

Suzuki makes great products and they have an extended saltwater history. The Mercury four strokes also should have longevity. The electronic shifting and throttles are dependable and smooth. As for Suzuki the 250 SS we started working with them on in 2005 and it’s a good power plant, though it won’t run with a Mercury or Evinrude. While Suzuki will eventually address this with their more recent focus on tournaments, it won’t be overnight. If your comfortable dropping some MPH for the Suzuki experience, then they are fine, as is a Honda. The main V6 blocks are well known for their longevity.

One of my brother in laws live on the south coast. While visiting i notice quickley wat seemed to be motor of choice was the Suzuki motor. Actually i was surprised. Yes i seen other brands. But the Suzuki motor was most seen. Im at the age if my proxs 2stroke blows. The honda and suzuki will be top contenders for me as well!

Bass Cat longevity is going to be the driving force on my next boat, that and how easily I get into and out of it.  I might even go into a yarcraft, that line will also enter the picks as I am getting to point age wise where the body does not do certain things as well, if at all, like it did at 25.

Dad’s ’94 Classic had a 2.7L Bass 150hp Suzuki EFI 2-stroke on it with the two plugs per cylinder and higher limiter, never had an issue with it in the 10yrs of ownership. Saw the boat still running a couple years ago to the 3rd owner actually. Considered the 4-stroke 150SS, but didn’t want to put an over 500lb outboard on my smaller Sabre or run a 30″+ prop as it has 2.5:1 gear ratio.
