Understanding BassCat Hull Warranties

Yesterday, I was reading a owners post that details his Phoenix boats limited lifetime warranty. I learned original owners do get lifetime hull warranty but the next buyer will only get 10 years. After that I dont know. Phoenix makes a very nice boat and has some cool front deck storage boxes thats attractive and there is lots to like about their boat layouts but to me their limiting lifetime hull warranty is a major deal breaker. As the boating industry transitions more toward used sales by owners I can see how hull warranties can impact the selling and or buying new and used boats. I cant imagine being a second owner of a 45k 20 foot boat knowing I only have 10 years of hull warranty. Major kudos to BassCats boats for going to another level for their customers. How comforting is it to know since 2000 models and on Basscat bass boat offers a lifetime transferrable warranty for every owner as long as they pay $100 to re-register their boat. IMO that is one of the most important selling features owning a BassCat. Now that is BassCat strong!

BCB is #1 on Hull Warranties for the life of the boat. I dont believe there is another boat brand out there that tops BCB. The N-Brand boat is 10 years to the first owner, can be transferred to a 2nd owner only during the first 5 years of age and only for the remainder of the 10 year term. 3rd owner and beyond…well…. Theyre on their own. Thats sad…

I agree 100%!!!!!!! What BCB does with life time hull warranty to 2nd owners and beyond is awesome.Example in 2009 I bought a 2009 model Blazer 180 pro v boat. It had 10 hours on it, brand new. They guy was rich and didnt like it. I got a deal, but I didnt get the life time since I was the 2nd owner. I got 10 years and it cost 150.00 Bucks!!!! Beautiful boat but I didnt like it, sold it within 5 months.

This discussion came up with several potential customers at the Bham Boat Show this past Saturday.BCB, please correct or delete this reply if it is inaccurate. There may be some slight variations depending on boat manufacturer.Guy A buys the boat. He has a lifetime warranty on the hull as long as he owns the boat. He is the only one that gets the lifetime warranty. Guy A sells to Guy B. Guy B has hull warranty for 10 years. His 10 years is calculated from the date Guy A bought the boat. If the boat is 5 years old, guy B has a 5 year warranty.NOW, Guy B sells the boat to Guy C. Guy B bought the boat at 5 years with a 5 year warranty. Guy B kept the boat 6 months and sold to Guy C. It is my understanding from the discussion on Saturday, that Guy has zero warranty, as it is not extended to the 3rd owner.If this in incorrect, maybe Todd Witt, Michael Redfearn, or Jason from BCB will chime in.Very interesting topic to say the least. BCB has the best lifetime hull warranty in the industry, as it is fully transferable.CF

Also, IMO warranty needs to be valued more in its importance to deck size, dry ride, speed, comfort and innovation. How good are any of these boating attributes if you are the 2nd/3rd owner of a 5 year old boat and you may have little to no warranty at all. God forbid if something goes wrong. Try selling that to the next potential buyer. Thank you very much Im quite happy owning a BassCat and there is not another boating feature thats more important to me then a transferrable lifetime hull warranty. Knowing Im passing on the same protection I had as the original owner protects the next buyer and makes it that much easier for me to sale my boat which I hope to exercise sometime in 2013. I could hardly stand it looking at Brechs Diamonds are for Ever PIV/200SHO at Bham boat show. Disclaimer: So much sparkle requires sun glasses within ten feet of that boat. Your all accurate on the evaluation of the Warranty, though you forget that the incentive programs dont transfer also. One of the larger benefits to the second, third, fourth or seveteenth owner of a Bass Cat is Quest Incentive Money. Then you have the No Boater Amatuer Quest, Double Up, Split Decision and more that play into that where no other company treads.

Not to mention, if Im not mistaken, the $100 we pay to extend the warranty goes to help fund the Quest program, not really to BCB. So you benefit in yet another way if you join Quest (and you are nuts if you dont).

trying to get companies to warranty there hull issues can be a major deal breaker also a 5,10 or lifetime warranty on hulls is only as good as the company that backs them!

They actually went way beyond what I thought was necessary and Im pretty picky with my stuff,
