V-T2 live well vents

Has anyone installed these vents before? Have you found that youve had a better mortality rate? I hate the idea of cutting 3″ holes in my lids but Ive had issues with some small mouth lately even with plenty of ice and live well treatment.Just looking some opinions, thanks! I have installed them on my 1998 P2 and I personally think they work great! I fish big bass derbys in Texas and I have not lost a fish since I installed them. It seems the fish are livelier when they come out. I also add live well treatment and ice. Just my 2cents! I have ordered a new Caracal and have been arguing with myself whether to install them or not. I have decided not, but the day I lose a fish will be the day I install them on my new boat.George

Did you have issues losing fish prior? I lost 2 big smallies for the first time this weekend in 83 degree st Clair water. I know some dont like to run re-circ once theyve cooled the well but ive found with small mouth , re-circing often seems to help. Ive toiled with the idea of adding a live well cooling system but it was suggested that these vents worked quite well to remove gas buildup and add in cooler air. To me, when the air temp is 90 that is counter productive but I could be wrong as the air in the well could be at a higher temp than the outside air? Sent from my SM-T330NU using Tapatalk

I lost a 5lb fish caught on a top water bait just in the lip. From the time I put it in the live well and my partner had a 4.50 lb fish on the other side of the live well. we ran to weigh in my fish was dead and his was alive and well all in the span of 45 minutes. Just bad luck? Maybe, but I installed the VT2 the next week and I have not lost a fish since. I would like to think that they work as advertised. It was June in Texas when I lost that fish. It did hurt to cut those holes but I got over it pretty quick.George

I haven’t put them on my Caracal yet but had them on my Phoenix and I think they help a lot never lost a fish in these Tx summers.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I ask these same questions awhile back. To be honest im still intrigued by the v2 vents. Ive read and read and wat i get is a mixed bag of answers. Some swear by them and some are skeptical!!. I have not purchased them yet. I mainly crappie fish with the exception of a half of dozen night time trips for bass. Ive owned bcb since 1989 and have lost very very few in this time without the v2. Do they work? Who knows. Honestly though bet they cant hurt

Ive run the TH Marine Max-Air venturi system on my ranger. I have shallow (small) livewells and have never had a problem with fish in any temp. (I do not have anything in our Pantera Classic.) I would ask around if there are any tournament guys that use the venturi – is is an alternative to cutting big holes in your lid.

I dont see where the vents would hurt, if anything would only benefit by allowing heat to escape the live well.If you dont have an issue drilling holes in the lids, I only see benefits to the system.I will say having owned a 98 Jag, 2011 Sabre FTD, 2014 Eyra, and a 2016 PII, I have never lost a fish due to excess heat in the live well. I have fished many Tx with the water temp hitting 98 degrees.I have occasionally added a bit of ice. Always helps.

Do you run your recirc every 5 mins in that heat? Or leave the water you have just aerate? Whats your method at combating the heat?
