I have a 2015 BC trailer with Vault hubs. I went to replace the bearings and races, I called BCB to get the sizes and part numbers for the components.
The service I received was something I would expect from Walmart. I was told that no one knew what parts were needed but I could order the sets from BC. My other option was to call Dexter and ask them…a bit of a head scratcher but I didn’t want the hassle of calling around so I ordered the kits. Turns out, they didn’t fit. They fit the non brake wheels but not the brake wheels.
I called back and got the same runaround. It was suggested I replace the entire hub assemblies for well over 1000 dollars in parts. I was also told that they weren’t aware of any problems with Vault hub parts but I could return the parts for a refund. Again, nobody was able to help except telling me to call Dexter.
I did call Dexter and all I’ve gotten was voicemails. ETrailer has been extremely helpful and I think I finally have the right parts—I’ll post the part numbers once I’m sure I have it right.
what I was planning on taking 1 day is now looking at 2 weeks to complete. In hindsight I would have not bothered with BCBs and measured the components myself…
I understand that this Vault thing has caused a lot of headaches…and maybe it’s more complicated than it seems to me—but I did not appreciate the deceptive customer service I received…the number 1 reason this is my 3rd BCB is how the company treated it’s owners.
Maybe this is an anomaly, but maybe the company’s changed.
We apologize for your experience.
Allan and Mark are generally the desk staff that manages the phones. Unless they were unavailable we’ve been consistent there, and Lori supports them when they’re tied up. Daylon is amazing and oversees that department and they will work to rectify this situation.
We do get all sorts of calls wanting the general part numbers for bearings, seals and etc. The companies also have had one off parts changes we don’t catch. We do not assemble bearing and race kits on hubs, they come preloaded. Both end units, brake and non brake in Vault, should have been the same parts to our knowledge.
We will share your experience and we ask that you allow the parts department to make you whole.

If you have any questions regarding your Vault hubs at all, get in touch with Bill Snider who is the product training manager at Dexter. When I had to do a repair to mine, he told me how and what parts to get precisely. He was extremely helpful and knows these hubs inside and out. If I ever have to service them, he will be the guy that I call for advice.
I have a 2017 Cougar with the vault hubs on them. One side the rotor was galled, BCB replaced the assembly. Then the other side did the same about a year plus later. I wound up calling Dexter. First time I spoke with someone out of California, waited a while and finally got some parts, not everything. I then called Dexter again, talked to a Customer service agent out of Indiana, he sent me everything plus that fit my trailer. Installed everything, and used the lube that they sent. That stuff is messy. FYI don’t forget to pull the zerk off after you finish filling the hub with the new lubricant as you will be taking the cap off to get that zerk back and repacking the cap.
Incase you do not have numbers, and for those that do need them here are the numbers for the kits that I received from Dexter:
Bearing and seal replacement kit 3.2 K & 3.7 k n1.980″ outer bore K71-059-00
Brake Pads (stamped on pads) DH-LH-FF
Race (small): L44610 Bearing (small) M56G20AE28
Race (large) : L68111 Bearing (large) L68149
The seal does not have a part number on it, mine all came inside the kits.
Check your brake pads as mine came unlaminated, yes even the new ones. Hope this all helps.
Yes, very helpful…although I’ve figured out the seal and races through trial and error vs Dexter—I did get to the point that it’s Dexter Marine in California that knows about our Hubs…simply being told contact Dexter isn’t a whole lot of help.
I suspect most of us with trailers from that era will have similar issues.
Im not trying to be snarky, but perhaps Basscat might consider our situations and have better guidance for future owner calls. We’re getting to the time that those trailers are due for hub service.
also, Im still not on the road so I haven’t road tested my hubs, but I packed them with regular grease, not the original Dexter/Vault lube.
thanks
JCPO
Hope that your bearings are straightened out. So far mine have been good, although since I do have extra parts I will be checking on the grease and re-filling all bearings over the winter. I do not want to be the guy stuck on the side of the road with bearings that have gone out.
