We want to know your opinion on the Flowrite Livewell Control Valve?

Remember when answering that we asked this question a few years ago with a resounding preference for the valve, and that our livewells are excessively deep. Comments are welcomed.

I’ve never had minute of trouble out of the Flow-Rite on my 11 year old Sabre FTD.Just have to make sure you operate it periodically to keep it cleaned out and moving freely.

I like the Flowrite valve, but they can have issues due to trash causing the flaps to get wedged open or they flaps just getting old. They are easy to rebuild. Also the control cables can break.While putting a plug in to hold water is not hard, it can be cold this time of year to pull it out. I have also broke the control arm on a valve because it was frozen up. I have actually thought about adding a second valve for pump out over adding a pump.I really think the best setup would be having a plug to hold the water, a pump to add water, a pump to recirculate water. Then have a Flowrite pump out valve in the line after the recirculate pump to allow remote pump out selection. But my current boat doesnt have a control valve or even a plug in the livewell. Looks like I dont fall in either category currently.

I have owned quite a few BCBs and never had a single issue with the valve itself. Only had the nut back off at the control lever. Always sealed, and always drained when needed.

Ive owned a bcb since 89. Although only 2 boats i never had any issues to speak of. I mainly crappie fish and probably make a small percentage of this board. The bcb livewells are some of the best on the market but do require some PM work from time to time. Cleaning and flushing is a must for a trouble free operation. I will say ive heard alot of “wishes” through the yrs. I say leave the system as is. If someone wants a plugable livewell add it to the “options” list.

While I have only had 1 problem in the last 7 years, which was due to not keeping the flapper clear of debris, I like the idea of having a switch to control this function. I do believe there has to be a better option at some point. I see that a number of boats have the actual boat plug controlled by a switch. Wouldnt this work just as good or better since there is no module with a flapper to worry about?

I have stated before on this forum that I love the convenience of the Flowrite valve. I am on my third Basscat boat and I have never had a single problem with this system. I owned my last one for 10+ years so its not like I havent owned one long enough to have a problem with the valve. I would always have this valve as long as it is available in the BC boat.

I like them. I did have one on my 2010 PII fail. The valve was always tricky to get closed. It was hitting something and would take a try or to to get it closed. Opening was always fine. It eventually broke where the cable meets the lever. I replaced everything. The old valve was defective from the beginning. There was a small piece of plastic material inside.
