Here are the pics of my new 08 Cougar FTD I picked up from Mountain Home on Friday last week. Its white, purple trim and a black boot. 250ProXS Merc, MG 109, dual Lowrance 520Cs, Smart Craft gauges with three link gauges and much more. To say Im happy with it would be a BIG understatement!!!! Hi Jay, I had two of those boats – 2005 and 2006. The 05 had a 225 ProXS and the 06 had a 250 XS. A little different than yours but close enough for government work. Both boats came from the factory with the prop centerline 3.5 inches below the pad. This setup was perfect for the 250XS but I needed to raise the motor 1/4 inch on the 225 for top performance. You may have to do this yourself. I assume you have a manual jackplate on the boat? If so, what I do with each of my plates when I take delivery of the boat is to measure the prop centerline with respect to the bottom of the pad. Then, I take an icepick and scribe along the jackplate which leaves a small line in the aluminum. This is my starting reference. From there, I lower the jackplate in 1/4-inch increments and make another scribe. I do this for about an inch above and below the initial starting line I made. Then, take the boat to the water and run it. As you run it each time, note speed and rpm. then, move the motor up or down 1/4 at a time and make more notes. By the time youre done with this exercise, youll know exactly where the best position for the motor is. Each of these boats is a little different but BCB mounts the motor very close to the right position. It just takes some fine tuning on your part to get the most out of it. Also, make sure you run the boat with all the equipment youll normally run it with. In other words, dont go light. I hope this helps, Terry PS: You may also need to try a different prop.Terry Battisti

sdfd, I saw your boat last Friday after they pulled the two halves from the molds. Beautiful boat I must say!! In fact, I believe when I first showed up, they still had the vacuum compression going on. Pretty darn impressive. Youll love the boat and everything else that comes with it! More pics when its done. Congrats TerryTerry Battisti

Bass Cat AU, Id be happy to take some pics of my new 08 FTD for ya. But, I have some technical questions for you. One, since these are going into a magazine, I expect you need high resolution pics. Im capable of pics that are high res and in the 11MB size range. Problem here is getting them to you via email. Do you have an FTP site I can load them to so you can get them? Two, do you want pics of the insides of the compartments/livewells or just interior pics of the dash, decks etc? Feel free to reply to me here or you can email me at home at: battisti1 (at) cableone (dot) net. Looking forward to helping you out! Sincerely, TerryTerry Battisti

Cool BC AU! Im sure your blokes will love them! So, why not use BCB trailers? Fill one container with trailers and the others with the boats. I know its a cost thing but theres nothing like a BCB trailer. Good luck with the boats and Im sure youll be ordering more of them. TerryTerry Battisti

High Tide, welcome to the family. You are in for a life experience. I have owned a number of boats over the last 30 years and you will not get the comradery or support from any company like you will here. We can wait to see your new ride and here of your experience with your new boat. TerryTerry Battisti

Hi jiggerjake, Here are a couple pics of my 08 Cougar FTD and how it sits in the water. At this time, I had 150lbs of tackle and gear in the front compartments and my photographers camera equipment (over 100lbs) in the boat too. It also had 50 gals of fuel. I know you want a side by side comparison but I figured Id let ya see how this boat sits in the water. I hope it helps you. Take care, Terry Last edited by Terry Battisti on April 29th, 2009, 1:42 am, edited 1 time in total.Terry Battisti

Hi High Cotton, The spincast reels mentioned above are all good. You cant go wrong. But in my experience casting is all timing and once your little Bassmaster gets that down, you should upgrade him to a spinning or even a casting reel. Properly adjusted by you, a casting reel can offer him more power and better control over fish and its never too young to start a young guy using one. When I was a little guy, Id practice casting out in the yard each day (with crappy line of course) and use a spinning reel when on the water. When I got confident with my abilities in the yard, I finally took my casting reel with me fishing – which was about 2 weeks later. The problen I have with any spincast reel is the drags are not good. Line comes off the reel by the line uptake pin rotating around the spool – a bad setup. Id hate to see your boy lose his first big fish because of a bad drag. Congrats on your new fishing partner and let us know how he progresses! TerryTerry Battisti

Thats Hells Canyon Reservoir on the Idaho/Oregon border. That day we saw mountain goats, elk, deer and turkey. We even caught a “few” smallies. 🙂 That trip was taken for an article I did for In-Fisherman (article published in Jan 09) and some of these pics were in the article. Its truly a magical place to fish and the fact that its full of 4lb smallies just adds to its beauty. Thanks for the kind words JEH. TerryTerry Battisti

Hey jiggerjake, I just sent you and email. I hope it helps out with your decision. But, Ill just reiterate. The boat is stable when on the front deck and Ive never noticed any rocking at all. JEH and Doug, if you ever get out this way please let me know and Ill take ya around. This string of reservoirs is pretty cool. Over 100 miles and three reservoirs of great smallie fishing. Brownlee, Oxbow and Hells Canyon. Great fishing and awesome scenery. Seriously, give me a call if ya wanna come out. TerryTerry Battisti
