I do not recamend installing anything on topof the bunks to help launch or load. I have seen multiple boat hulls where the gel was wore thin from continous rubbing( including my p2 ). Just stick with pressure treated wood leave the bottom exposed for draining and cover the tops,sides. If you need to use liquid roller spray on the carpet,just be extra carefull on the ramps and keep the strap hooked ontill in the water. Scott

Swap it for a non tilt. Here is what I have found with tilt units. Its a poor design held together with metric screws the equivelent of #10s, they pinch a clam shell housing against a knuckle and shaft. Its scarry thinking of having tiny screws holding a helm together at 80mph. What I found out from speaking to Teleflex Techs is there is NO replacement parts for those helms only replacing as a assembly. What I did for my customer was modify the 2 pinch pieces for 1/4-20 screws and locknuts that was 2yrs ago and unit still working fine. After seeing this design Ill never own a tilt helm JMHO Scott
