Thats beautiful. Now you just have to mask that new fiberglass smell with some fish smell. Good luck with the new ride.
Going on Saturday.
I just ordered one as well. Order it right through Bass Cat parts. Allen is great to deal with.
My Mercury dealer has a new lower unit in stock I believe. I am in NY.
Hi Rick,
I saw that you sent a PM but nothing came through. Call Eric at Mid Coast Marine @ 631 289 3949. I know he had a new one in stock a couple of months ago. Good luck.
I have been reading that the new Pro XS V-8 has been fitted with a 23p or 24p prop. My 2017 Cougar FTD with a 2 stroke Pro XS runs a 25p as most others do. I thought the new motors had more torque. Why do they need a prop with less pitch? I have been considering a repower because I like the idea of better low and mid range power but now I am confused. Please help me understand this.

Welcome aboard. You will find this place a great resource of help and support.
I have a 2017 Cougar with a 250 Pro XS. My boat yard is a racing shop as well and he uses Mercury premium plus. He likes it over the Optimax oil because he says it flows better especially if you run in colder temps. When you race stuff and you are not meticulous stuff blows up so that is as good a recommendation as I need.
Thank you for the response. This is a great community!
I have the same issue on my 2017. It happened after only a year.
Definitely not stepped on. The picture is the same issue I have, it appears that the trim shrunk and just pulled away.
I have basically the same rig, 2017 Cougar FTD but with an Ultrex and 10′ poles. I run a 25P Fury 4 blade and the all around performance is hard to beat. Bottom end and mid range is amazing, and you will still run in the 70’s.
I don’t have any issues with loading. I leave 6-8″ of the long bunks out of the water and the boat slides right up.
Thank you again to all that contribute to this resource. I was having the same problem with my 2017 Cougar FTD port tank not reading. Since I have smart craft gauges, and it was inop as well, it seemed logical that it was the connectors or the sender. I visually checked the butt connectors. No corrosion and a good pull on the wires showed a solid crimp. I was just about ready to order a sending unit when I read the post by shef1. I thought what the heck, I cut the butt connectors out, twisted the wires together and wouldn’t ya know. It worked!
