Retractable tie-downs

Anyone else having issues with their retractable tie-downs on trailer. Recoil spring bad on one of mine & weak on the other. One wont retract at all no matter how far you pull it & the other retracts but only partially in. Boat trailer is only 5 1/2 months old.

Yes, Had the same issue while I was at the BCB factory, one of the guys sprayed a little WD-40 on the springs, worked it in and out a little by pulling on the strap and it worked it self out. Still works good, the springs get a little “oxidized” from putting in and out all the time. Hope this works for you.

The Margay is a little different set up than the one on CBumps boat. Same brand though a different model.

by overtightening when the boat was on the trailer. mine wont spring retract, but you can still just ratchet them in when not in use so they dont drag behind the trailer.

DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN !All theyt gotta do is keep the boat on the trailer in the event of an emergency, or bad bounce. They are not meant to be ratcheted down hard, this will damage the springs and is unnecessary.Back in the early 90s we never even used tie downs on the back !

I have the same issue on my margay, its only 6 weeks old and only had it out 4 times. I emailed Pete and asked for a new tie down since they are under warranty for 2 years. Never heard back, Im guessing he sent out a new one but without confirmation I wont know till it shows up……… or it doesnt.
