Stuck Butt Seat Post

Put brand new Puma STA ’22 in the water last week.  Just breaking in the engine and doing initial shake out.  Put the butt seat in the front when I pulled it out of the front locker.  It will not come out.  I’ve pulled so hard I’m afraid I’m going to break the seat or slip a disc.  Any suggestions on how to get it unstuck?  Seems like a silly thing to have to take to the dealer to get serviced.

New boats:

There is a small lock ring at the lower edge of the pedestal and the inside nylon bushing. These have to be in a vertical position to release. The ring inside is rolled, and the notch on the pin is grooved, which grabs the radius inside the bushing to prevent the seat from ejecting under operation. The pins today are all stainless steel, which does not apply to the previous post.

older boats:

The comment we hid above refers to older boats which are not cared for and the pins are almost never removed. Older pins were not stainless steel and the would rust over time. Which many users never removed butt seats and thus the seat pins rusted in place.

That was my comment in referencing the subject. And my experience with brand “new boats”. My 2007 and 2013 Puma’s, and well cared for!

I failed to mention my 2015, 2016, 2017 Eyra and my 2021 Puma Hybrid all practically brand new!

You ended up getting a Hybrid?  Nice.  But friend, where are the pictures?  🙂  I loved the color scheme on your 17 Eyra, did you do something similar?  I ended up with a 2020 Caracal.  Decided to go with a wide deck in my old age.

CBump, if new boat customers were having to use a pipe wrench on new boats, this page would be flooded with those comments. Our dealers would be pressing us, Attwood would be overwhelmed and we in service would have multiple inquiries.

The parts are Attwood brand and a direct vertical pull will get the parts to remove new. If you try to pull at an angle then they will lock in place as designed. If you are repetitively having trouble removing a pedestal, then we suggest you grasp the post low and twist while lifting your hand.

I cannot get the rear seat off the pole-new boat. I’ll try more this weekend.
