I just put a Helix 10 SI mega imaging on my Puma Ftd. I mounted the Transom transducer in the same place that my 997C SI unit was which is on the Detwiler jackplate. This transducer wont read depth when on plane at all. What do you guys suggest? Thanks
Mount it to the jack plate. You cant mount that transducer to the back of the pad and therefore it wont see any high speeds. Mounted to the jack plate is will be above the water and again it wont see any high speeds. The only way to get a reading at higher speeds is with a second transducer in the bilge area. Then youll lose depth readings between 50-60 mph in most cases.

I have the same setup mounted on the drivers side on a 01 P3. Side image is useless at high speed anyway, and as Phil said you can get a shoot thru hull puck for high speed up to about 50 or so. If you order from Tranducer Shield and Saver they will have it all bolted together when you get it, just add the transducer and mount. You will have to drill 2 holes in the black side plate of the Slidemaster plate.
Thanks a lot. placed an order.
In addition to the ducer shield you’ll also need a y-cable and a dual-beam puck transducer to epoxy into the bilge. The y-cable is a splitter so that both transducers run simultaneously, but the head unit gets all of the 2d sonar info from the ducer in the bilge, and all of the SI and DI info from the ducer on the jackplate.
Ordered that too

The transome mounted one will be used for the idle and the shoot thru will pick up after you get on plane. Mine works great. Good luck
Was trying to avoid 2 transducers. Do you have to change settings on unit or does it automatically Read depth off shoot thru pick once on plane?

Head unit gets tricked into thinking that is reading only one transducer. The 2d depth reading will come from the shoot through puck all of the time, and the side and down imaging will come from the one on the jackplate. It is the most common set up in a bass boat.
Were you reading depth from the 997 transducer mounted on the jackplate?? I wouldnt think so, but if you were id love to know the settings. That mounting area is well out of the water on plane I would think.

Thats where the y cable takes over and the thru hull reads the depth.
