Wang anchor or similar

I fish less than 4 ft deep 95% of the time. There are some times I would like to stay put. Anyone use a Wang anchor or a similar style that can give me comments? And no, Im not shelling out the cash for a power pole at this time

There are others that have been used in salt water fo years, and this is what originated power poles. The spikes in any brand still are not cheap and down pressure is limited.

Check out Stick It Anchor Pins at http://stickitanchorpins.com/. The 8 pole will fit in your rod locker and doubles as a push pole. You can get the pole and rope for less then $100 shipped. Seems like a viable alternative for fishing skinny water.

Has anybody used either of these setups for fishing in any kind of wind or current? The bottom where Im at is sand, not sure how much bite I could get. I think the power pole advantage is the constant down pressure the hydraulics exert. Mike

I just made one up and it cost about $75.00 in parts and 1 hour total to fab. That is inclusive of the 10 3/4″ solid fiberglass rod. It attaches right to the trolling motor shaft and is offset 5″. Nice thing about mine is that it takes 2 seconds to attach the bracket and 2 seconds to take it off. I will post pics when I get a chance!!

Back in the 70s when I fished in the reservoirs of south Louisiana in a 14 jon boat we had metal rods about 4 long with a pointed end. We had a rope about 4 long attached to the metal rod and to the boat. When we got to spot to stay we just jabbed the rod into the ground like a spear. It held the boat plenty well. Not sure if something like that would work for you.

That is the old fahsioned power pole bass1958, and we all used something similar sometime probably.
