11/07/16 – BRAD KELL, JOHN MORRIS TAKE THE LEAD AT THE 2016 BCB NTC

MOUNTAIN HOME, AR (November 7, 2016) – Day one of the 2016 Bass Cat National Team Championship has concluded on Bull Shoals. This was the third stop of the day for 11 teams who’ve earned the right to compete in the fourth annual, no entry fee tournament. Regional champions from coast to coast are here to test their endurance, adapt to changing conditions, and win an all expenses paid trip to the famous Lake Picachos in 2017!

The vacation to Mexico won’t be won easily, especially with Bass Cat President, Rick Pierce keeping the playing field as level as possible. Short, three to four hour sessions at each body of water will keep everyone on their toes, and decreases the home field advantage for some.

Today began on Table Rock Lake, and the team of Brad Kell and John Morris took an early lead with 9.97 pounds. They managed to hold the lead all day, thanks to a solid limit at the second stop, Taneycomo. This is the third consecutive championship the duo has qualified for, and they are determined to make it count. With a one day total of almost 23 pounds, the team has built a solid cushion over second place team, Robert Robbins and Dave Wolf.

Stop number one has been released for day two, and the field will be headed south to Guion, AR. This White River wildcard has produced several giant bass this year, and a big bag could put anyone back into contention. The final stop will be Lake Norfork, where the teams will grind it out until sunset.

Day two coverage can be found on the Bass Cat Facebook page, and the Bass Cat Owners Board.
